Octoplay, a slot developer based in Malta, has picked up interim authorization from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB). The approval lets the studio supply games to licensed operators in the state while the board finishes its full licensing review. No Pennsylvania launch has been announced yet, but the studio’s catalog is already live in other US markets.
What PA online casinos get
PA online casinos can now add Octoplay games to their lobbies once a deal is signed. The authorization is interim, which means it covers supply while the board completes the full license. It lasts one year and can be extended for another year if the board hasn’t acted by then.
Octoplay says it received the authorization on September 28, 2026, though its licensing disclosure lists the board’s grant as August 14. The studio still needs the usual product and internal control approvals.
Where Octoplay came from
The studio was founded in 2022 and is based in Malta. Carl Ejlertsson, a former Red Tiger and Evolution executive, leads it as CEO. Its first slots were Pearly Shores, Heavy Anchor and Hot Harvest, followed by Disco Dive and Blazing Touch. Its debut license, in August 2022, let it supply slots to operators in Romania.
Early deals came quickly. Octoplay signed its first content integration with Betsson in late 2022. From there, it has picked up licenses from respective authorities in Malta, Ontario, Romania, and the UK.
The main games
The catalog has more than 50 slot and casual titles. Eggsponential gives players a multiplier that can grow during free spins. 777 Hot Reels hands out 12, 18, or 24 free spins for landing three, four, or five bonus symbols — basically, more bonus symbols lead to more free spins. Eternal Clash, Barhalla, and Gemstone Guardians round out the better-known list, alongside Juicy Rolls: Feature Frenzy.
Sphere Smash, Star Kingdom and Shaolin Panda Chaos Reels show up among the top listed titles on some platforms. Hard Rock Bet Casino in New Jersey launched 777 Hot Reels and Eggsponential.
The biggest name is Elvis Presley: Viva Las Records, a Hold & Win slot with five jackpot tiers and a top prize of up to 2,500 times the stake. It’s the first in a planned series of Elvis slots built exclusively for BetMGM.
Why players might care
Most Octoplay games are built around free spins, multipliers, and jackpots. This ensures non-stop action in all games. A player who likes short bonus rounds has plenty to choose from. A player who prefers a classic reel look can find that, too. Hold & Win games like Viva Las Records add a jackpot chase on top of the base game.
The studio’s licenses matter as well. Regulated approval means games have gone through testing before they reach a lobby, which is the baseline in Pennsylvania.
Why operators might care
Octoplay runs its games on its own remote gaming server, and operators can plug in through an integration like the one SOFTSWISS offers, with the full catalog available. That cuts down on setup time.
In Pennsylvania, operators still need each product approved before it goes live. A larger library also helps an online casino keep its lobby fresh without chasing a dozen separate studios. Exclusive content, like the Elvis series for BetMGM, gives an operator something other casinos don’t carry.
Octoplay’s US footprint
Octoplay entered the US in New Jersey in June 2025 through BetMGM Casino. BetRivers Casino and Hard Rock Bet Casino followed, and Michigan came next. In January, Octoplay said its games were live there with BetMGM, FanDuel Casino, Fanatics Casino and Rush Street Interactive.
That kind of spread is part of online gambling industry growth, with studios entering state after state as new markets open. Pennsylvania is among the larger ones.
What comes next
No Pennsylvania operator has announced Octoplay games yet. BetMGM has said Viva Las Records would reach its other markets, but it gave no Pennsylvania date. FanDuel Casino and Fanatics Casino both run Pennsylvania online casinos and haven’t announced plans either. The authorization gives Octoplay a year to line up a partner. For gaming updates on this one, the thing to watch is an operator’s lobby.
